 SCAA TO HOST CANDIDATE FORUM

The SCAA will host a forum for villagers to hear the candidates for village office. It will be held on Sunday, May 15th at 11AM at the Firehouse Meeting Room. All residents are invited to attend the forum and to ask questions. You can also submit advance candidate questions that you would the SCAA to ask. Email them to us at: http://saltairecitizens.org/contact-us/.

ELECTION INFORMATION

The General Election of the Village of Saltaire will be held on Friday, May 27th between the hours of 12 noon and 9 p.m. at the Village Hall. Absentee ballots can also be cast. Contact Village Hall if you require an absentee ballot. Three seats on the Board are expiring and will be on the ballot: Mayor and two Board of Trustee positions, all for two-year terms.

REGISTRATION IS OPEN

Village residents can vote in Village elections without being registered with Suffolk County Board of Election if they register in person at the Village Hall on either Sunday, May 15th from 9a.m. to 5p.m. or Tuesday, May 17th between 12 noon and 5 p.m.

NOMINEES FOR VILLAGE OFFICE

The following nominees will be listed on the ballot:

  • Mayor – Robert L. Cox III
  • Mayor – John A. Zaccaro Jr
  • Trustee – Frank Wolf

There is only one nominee for the two open Trustee seats.

WRITE-IN CANDIDATES

Members have asked for clarification on the matter of write-ins. Please be advised that the ballot will allow the option of voting for a write-in candidate for each of the three seats, as it does for every election. With respect to the two Trustee seats, there will be only one nominee listed on the ballot and two write-in lines for Trustee. The two candidates who receive the highest number of votes will win the two open seats. In the event that any winning candidate declines or is ineligible to sign the oath of office for which they are elected, the Village Board will follow the procedures for filling that vacancy prescribed by law.
